The 2021 BMW R 18 First Edition is a cruiser motorcycle that mixes classic style with modern power. It has a huge 1,802cc two-cylinder boxer engine—BMW’s biggest ever—making 91 horsepower and 116 lb-ft of torque. Its design is inspired by BMW’s old 1930s R 5 model, with black paint, white pinstripes, lots of chrome, and “First Edition” badges. It also has an exposed driveshaft and a vintage-style frame. While it looks old-school, it includes modern touches like LED lights, three riding modes (Rain, Roll, and Rock), and optional features like reverse assist and hill start control. With a low seat and a heavy, solid build, it offers a relaxed but powerful ride that stands out for its bold look and smooth performance.
This one takes things a bit further with BMW Ape handlebars, we installed them, a solo seat, luggage rack and an exhaust you need to hear. It has other touches you need to see. Overall, this is a one-of-a-kind ride. We serviced it in May, the 6000-mile service, so it's good for another 6000 miles.
