• Rotax HD10 V-Twin

In the Defender XT-P, the 72-hp Rotax HD10 V-Twin is still specifically tuned for serious work, but gains more responsive tuning for active, sport-oriented riding. The Defender can do that sort of riding, too, but how? Torque.

• Lockable Front Differential

For next-level traction to conquer the roughest terrain, Can-Am-exclusive Smart-Lok™* technology is the new benchmark. A true full lockable on-the-fly front differential with electronically-controlled automatic modes, or with the simple press of a button that offers preset, intelligent calibrations for your type of riding. Using multiple input sources, "Smart mode” will instantaneously engage locking with the right load at the right moment. Never before have riders been given maximum traction while retaining low-speed maneuverability.

• Reinforced heavy-duty HSLA steel chassis

The HD8 and HD10 Defenders can pull at the top of their class with a towing capacity of 2,500-lbs (1,134 kg). A reinforced, automotive-like high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) grade steel chassis is purpose-built to handle the strain of heavy-duty jobs. From surviving Defender Challenge test drives to our brutal Utility Test Cycle, it’s clear we’ve built it tough for every situation you’ll face.

• Responsive handling

Delivering the responsive, thrilling feel of an enthusiast-oriented machine is a Can-Am thing. It's been in our DNA from the beginning, in fact, which is why the XT-P has been re-tuned to return even higher levels of enjoyment when out on the trail.

• Work / ECO / Normal driving modes

With the power of the Rotax HD10 at your back and Smart-Lok 4WD underfoot, there's different ways to use all of it: Work, ECO, and Normal driving modes maximize response depending on the situation. Work mode gives full power and prioritizes low-down control and response, key for towing, hauling, and maneuvering with ease; ECO helps to save fuel and remain easy on terrain.

• FOX PODIUM 2.0 shocks

FOX Racing makes the ultimate in off-road suspension, and for the first time, we've fitted FOX PODIUM 2.0 shocks to the Defender. With 12 inches (30.5 cm) of ground clearance and increased responsiveness and durability in rough terrain, they're a serious upgrade for our work-grade side-by-side vehicle.

• VERSA-PRO bench seat with bolster seats

To enjoy a more thrilling ride, our engineers bolstered the adjustable VERSA-PRO bench seats to deliver more support than ever. With added side padding and redesigned profile, they'll help you control and enjoy the XT-P to the limit and back again.

• Adaptable Storage

The Defender has a total of up to 16.2 US gal (61.3 L)—including a handy, removable and water-resistant 1.7 gal (6.3 L) toolbox, an industry exclusive—to carry tools and supplies directly where they're needed. In addition, we include 6 gal (22.8 L) of under-dash storage with an enclosed pocket, under-seat storage, and enclosed storage above the gauges.
